For centuries, in many regions of the world, raw seaweed was made available to animals with excellent results, both as regards to health and performance. Those days have passed. Sea Magic Organics has three seaweed products available which are so concentrated and well balanced that they can do more than raw seaweed can do at a really economic cost; Seaweed Meal, BD seaweed concentrate and SM6 concentrated liquid seaweed top ^ Seaweed Meal Supplement A correct balance of solids and fluids in the blood is essential to maintain good health, and where there is ample pasturage this can be achieved by applying SM6 regularly to the grass. But where animals are kept indoors for part of or whole of the year, or where grazing rate is so low that the application of SM6 is uneconomical, some other method of feeding seaweed to animals must be used. top ^ What is Sea Magic Meal Seaweed Meal combines the widest possible range of minerals, trace elements, amino acids and vitamins, including the important B-12 and E-vitamins, even down to the most minute catalysts. It is made wholly from seaweed, many different varieties being meticulously blended in exact proportions. It is therefore in complete biological balance and so produces perfect cell formation throughout the body of the animal. It is easy to feed, palatable and readily utilized by the body, so there is no danger of over-feeding and no toxicity whatsoever. top ^ Iodine and the thyroid gland The iodine content of the seaweeds used is of major importance, for iodine is a key trace element in nutrition. It enters into the life of every cell in the body and its more decisive action is its effect upon the thyroid gland, which, through its secretion of thyroxine, controls the rate of metabolism. In Seaweed Meal the iodine is present partly as a precursor of thyroxine and is therefore readily available. top ^ Methods of use for cattle The daily dose of Sea Magic Meal for adult animals is only two teaspoonfuls (approx. 10 gm) as compared with the usual ration of about 15 gm of conventional seaweed supplements. There is no fear of an animal refusing to take the meal, for the ration is so small as to be unnoticeable. Sea Magic Meal can be mixed in with the salt in the feeding troughs at least once a week, preferably twice. Sometimes the SM Meal is fed the year round, sometimes only during the months when pasture is poor. SM Meal can be given to bucket-fed calves by mixing it in the milk and later with the dry ration. When first put on the SM Meal, 2.5 gm/day is enough, increasing to 5 gm/day after a month up to six months, when the full adult dosage of 10 gm/day may be given. top ^ Methods of use for horses The use of Sea Magic Meal for horses will give the following results: Improved coats, improved growth, improved general health, better performance and better appetites. The daily dose of Sea Magic Meal for adult animals is only three teaspoonfuls (approx. 15 gm). The SM Meal can be mixed in with the dry food. The daily dosage is so small that it blends in with the other food, so there is no risk your horse won't take it. top ^ Methods of use for poultry Using SM Meal for your poultry will maintain a high standard of health in your birds, which will results in increased laying capacity, particularly after the first few months of maximum lay, reduced percentage of broken shells, improved yolk colour and with breeders a higher percentage of the eggs will hatch satisfactorily. The recommended rate of mixing SM Meal with the standard feed ration is 3 kg per ton. This works out at about 10 gm per bird per month. top ^ Methods of use for pigs Using SM Meal for pigs will result in better health and energy of your herd, more even litters, more weaned pigs per sow per year, and a lower food conversion factor.
