BD Fish Fertiliser
At Sea Magic Organics we use mainly shark as input for our liquid fish fertiliser, and use a natural, enzymatic digestive process to hydrolyse the fish. Because we use mainly shark, we have to avoid using the fatty tissues and the livers, as sharks are at the top of the food chain and tend to accumulate the toxins in their livers and in fatty tissue. Our product therefore does not have the thick consistency of other fish emulsions, but as the meat is completely digested the final product is completely liquid and still contains a considerable amount of oil.
The enzymatic digestive process is anaerobic. Because of this the final product has a distinctive anaerobic smell. The process needs to be anaerobic, because in an aerobic process too many nutrients would become volatile, and in an anaerobic environment a substantial content of auxins is preserved and/or created.
Due to the nature of our starting product, shark, the fish emulsion will always smell strongly. Even when fresh, shark has a strong and offensive smell.
This fish fertiliser is approved for use on certified organic and biodynamic farms, but can be used on any farm to improve soil structure and fertility in all soil types. Because it is a composted and fermented product it contains many minerals and small amounts of a wide range of trace elements, which are readily available to the plants and which also stimulate microbial activity in the soil. The biodynamic compost preps are added to the "brew" to aid decomposition and to spread the effect of the compost preps through the soil.

For best results for soil application spray late in the afternoon or evening onto damp soil to aid absorption. As a foliar spray, best times are early morning or late afternoon, and most growers find absorption better between half and full moon.

We recommend stirring rhythmically in a clockwise then anti-clockwise motion for at least 10 minutes before applying. Stir by hand, BD stirring machine or using flow forms. Because BD fish fertiliser is alive, it may expand during storage, so it is important to loosen lid to store. Use only as directed. Fish fertiliser is certified as a fertiliser. It may be also be used as a foliar spray.

Biodynamic Fish Fertiliser has been naturally composted using the biodynamic compost preparations 502-507.These preparations are produced from a variety of herbs contained in animal sheaths and inoculated in the soil for various lengths of time. They have the ability to order the composting process so the end product, when applied to the soil, brings the various nutrient cycles essential for plant growth into balance. The plant is then able to receive all that it needs for balanced growth from the soil. The preparations encourage a composting process of organic matter within the soil, promoting the formation of humus and an improved soil structure.
